MHC UP and ACTIVE!
A healthy lifestyle is so contagious! Everyday more people realize the benefit that just a simple morning stroll can bring to their lives. Whether it is biking, walking, running or some other form of activity it is important that everyone gets up and gets moving.
Active living is something everyone can agree on! No matter if you are 5 or 85 having a healthy lifestyle is important to each and every one of us. Activate strives to continue to make Martinsville – Henry County an active and fun place to live, work and play.
There is nothing as free as the feeling of riding a bike. Did you know that riding a bike is actually less wear and tear on your body than jogging and burns just as many calories? Nothing beats the feeling of the wind in your hair and the pedals beneath your feet. We live in a time where biking is as good, if not a better, means to travel to your destination. Citizens of Martinsville – Henry County realize this and with programs such as Bike Basics 101 people are taking more opportunities to leave the car in the garage and put the pedal to the metal!
Children are getting in the spirit of an active living community too. Nothing is as clear as when seen through the eyes of a child. Our children realize the difference they make when they walk or ride their bike to get where they are going. With great events such as IWALK that happens in October and the schools participating in such programs as Bike Smart and Walk-UP Wednesdays our children get jazzed up about how much fun being healthy and active can be. These are ideas they can and will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
So welcome to Martinsville – Henry County, leave your car parked and bring your bike, or take a stroll around the mall or just around Uptown and see what all the buzz is about!
