Let's Walk

Walking is one of the easiest ways to be physically active. No matter what your fitness level is, you

can choose your own pace and distance to better health! You can do it almost anywhere, with anyone,

at any time and it is FREE.  All you need is a good pair of walking shoes, comfortable clothing, water

and a place to walk. And here are a few!

SPCA - Historic Walking Tour

Come and enjoy this historically rich walk in
downtown Fieldale.  Learn about the history of the city,
residents, and the way of life in this small town that was
once the foundation of a leading textile factory.  The
festival’s walking tour is a part of the community
revitalization efforts. Fieldale is a historic district - having
been established in 1917 and named for its famous founder,
Marshall Field, Sr.  The festival is hosted at the Fieldale
Community Center in the spring. The walk is FREE and open
to the public.

Tour de Scholar

The Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce's
Education Foundation in conjunction with Activate sponsors the annual
Tour de Scholar charity bike ride.  The Tour de Scholar is open to all
ages and offers several routes. Participants can choose from a 5-mile,
25-mile, or 60-mile trek. For more information on this event contact:

Great Goblin Gallop 5K Race

Henry County Parks and Recreation in conjunction
with the Martinsville Department of Leisure Services sponsors the
annual Great Goblin Gallop 5K Race each October. The race course is a
beautiful, fairly level loop around Lake Lanier in Martinsville. For more

Uptown Martinsville Historic Walk

The Uptown Historic Walk and Talk is a one-hour
guided walking tour hosted by Activate, Martinsville Uptown
Revitalization Association and Martinsville-Henry County
Historical Society. Learn about historic points of interest and
hear interesting stories of yesteryear in Uptown Martinsville
as Activate staff teaches safe walking habits and five
walking mistakes to avoid.  For more information or to set

“I Spy” Adventure in Uptown Martinsville

This self-guided, historically enriched tour will have you looking every
which way you can to find the picture clues.  This will be great fun
for everyone as you learn the history of Martinsville and Henry County.

JOIN A WALKING GROUP!

Low Impact Walk - FREE

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Come and join the Low Impact Walk at the Martinsville YMCA.  This walk is open to all ages and fitness levels and is geared to assist walkers that are interested in beginning their journey to better health. Liberty Fair Mall's Mall Walker Program - FREE

Make the most of your lunch! Join other residents of Martinsville and Henry County as they meet at the Uptown Farmers Market to walk. Enjoy the Uptown atmosphere and the beautiful landscaping on the Rail Trail. When you are done, enjoy a 10% discount on your lunch from  Daily Grind or Tasty Creme.

Join the Senior's Walking Group coordinated by Martinsville Senior Services. Participants meet at the trailhead of the Martinsville Uptown Rail Trail.  Enjoy other seniors as you get in your daily walk and enjoy the sites of the Uptown Rail Trail.
