Activate partnered with Axton Elementary School on October 7, 2009 as part of International Walk to School Day.  Each school that participated in a walking event was entered into a drawing for the $750.00 monetary award.

On November 19, 2009, Activate staff recognized Axton’s achievements.  Per prize guidelines, the funds must be used towards increasing physical activity through: 1) educational opportunities encouraging increased physical activity for students and/or families, 2) purchasing school equipment to promote physical activity among students (excluding equipment for team oriented activities), and/or 3) support of school-wide contests or events that encourage increased physical activity.

“The $750 will help us to better meet the needs of the children here at Axton Elementary.  The funds will be used to purchase equipment needed so Axton may offer our students a well-rounded physical experience,” said Eric F. Seiy, PE teacher.
