Activate has partnered with The Starting Place, Liberty Fair Mall and Wanda Hunley of Farmers Insurance Group to sponsor .a Child Identification Event and Health Care Awareness Day. The event will be held at the Starting Place (across from Bath and Body Works) in Liberty Fair Mall on January 9th from 10 am to 2 pm.
Children will be photographed for Personal Safety Records and ID kits. A representative from Project Connect will be available to help families’ complete application to enroll or renew children or pregnant women in the FAMIS health insurance programs (FAMIS Plus, Medicaid for Pregnant Women, FAMIS and FAMIS MOMS) and answer questions about policies.
Activate will have a representative to talk about rules of the road and bicyclist/pedestrian safety.
ID Kits
The ID kits are part of a national effort to provide parents with personal IDs of their children in the event that their child becomes lost or missing. The kit gives parents a convenient location for storing a photo and identification information on their children. This program was designed to raise awareness of child safety and provide parents with an effective tool to aid law enforcement authorities in the search for a missing child. One in seven missing children are found because of a photograph distributed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), making a standardized, current photograph the single most important tool in finding missing children.
FAMIS Health Insurance
Statistics show that approximately 1,200 children in Martinsville and Henry County still do not have any health care coverage. Project Connect* is helping families to enroll these children in the FAMIS Programs (state-sponsored health insurance for children). They can also assist currently enrolled FAMIS/FAMIS Plus children in renewing their coverage. Project Connect also assists pregnant women in applying for health coverage via the Medicaid for Pregnant Women program or FAMIS MOMs.
